⁵² All the people were crying and ·feeling sad [wailing; lamenting; mourning] because the girl was dead, but Jesus said, “Stop crying. She is not dead, only asleep.”

⁵³ The people ·laughed at [ridiculed] Jesus because they knew the girl was dead. ⁵⁴ But Jesus took hold of her hand and called to her, “My child, ·stand up [arise]!”
